Privacy Policy
VarioMigo is a personal, offline-first paragliding app. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and your choices.
Offline by default
VarioMigo works without an account. Flight recording, replay, terrain maps and the audio vario all function fully offline, with data stored only on your device. You only create an account if you want to sync across devices or use the friends / live-tracking / sharing features. If you never sign in, none of the data below leaves your phone except map tiles requested from Mapbox (see Third parties).
What we collect and why

We do not collect contacts, messages, phone identifiers (IMEI/advertising ID), and we run no analytics, no advertising, and no crash-reporting SDKs.
Sharing with other people
- Live position: only broadcast to your friends, and only while you have recording active and "share my position" turned on. It stops when you stop recording or turn sharing off. It is never public.
- Flights & training entries: only shared when you explicitly grant access to a specific friend, teacher, or group. You can revoke access at any time.
Third parties
- Mapbox provides the map, satellite imagery and terrain. When maps are shown, the area you are viewing is requested from Mapbox; Mapbox's own privacy terms apply to that request. VarioMigo disables Mapbox's optional usage telemetry.
- Our server (
api.variomigo.com) is operated by us on our own hosting and is the only place your synced account data is stored. It is not sold or shared with advertisers.
There is no other third-party data sharing.
Storage & security
- On-device data is stored in the app's private storage (SQLite).
- Authentication tokens are kept in the platform's encrypted secure storage (Android Keystore).
- All communication with our server uses HTTPS/TLS.
Retention & deleting your data
- On-device data is removed when you uninstall the app.
- For account data on our server: you can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing support@variomigo.com. We will delete it within 30 days.
Children
VarioMigo is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country).
Changes
We may update this policy; the effective date above will change accordingly.
